NIKE WHO'S WHO OF HIGH SCHOOL
BOYS BASKETBALL

FINAL POLL - UPDATED APRIL 3, 2012

The CONSENSUS RATING is a combination of the eight major polls. All Polls are usually in by Wednesday so this ranking should be completed by that day

The HoopsUSA Consensus Rating is designed to give as many schools as possible the promotion and publicity they deserve.  Although HoopsUSA does not necessarily agree with ranking traditional schools with non sanctioned (states) schools, I have also created a poll such as the others for HoopsUSA (A combination of the HoopsUSA Traditional and National Ratings) to include in the Consensus Ranking.  I guess my theory has become, if you can fight them off  join them while keeping my own values in place with my other rankings.  The Top Teams in this rating gives a better true ranking of the top National Polls because it involves all the top pollsters rankings joined together in one place.  The "Traditional" High School Poll and "National" Polls  (Shown Below) are divided separately.  Generally the "traditional" teams are those that are eligible to play in a STATE High School League State Championship.  The Consensus Rating shows all the ratings each team receives in the eight National Polls.  Polls not registered by our deadline will not be included.  Rating teams is of course not an exact science or perfect in any way. I'm certain that all the other pollsters would echo those sentiments. Realistically, no one really knows who the best teams are among the thousands of schools in the country.  It's a fun thing that can generate excitement among teams and fans.  With that said, I'm certain that some deserving schools, that possibly could be listed, have been left out. Who are they?  When you live in a certain state and follow high school basketball closely, you may know better than the pollsters which teams are the best and most talented in your area.  The opinion of fans, coaches, media and others is very important to me and I'm sure to all those who rank teams. To possibly have a school listed, I need the school, city, state and won-loss record. In a poll (Max Preps Xcellent) where an excellent team (Oak Hill, Findlay, Montrose, Montverde, St. Benedict) has been left out because of Poll rules or some other unknown reason, I made a provision to have that team listed by getting the average ranking of the other polls.  Prep Schools that have 5th year Postgrad players are not included in the Consensus Ranking so votes for those teams are basically wasted as far as the Consensus Poll is concerned.  Where they are listed, I do not list them in the Consensus Ranking.  A separate poll has been created for the PREP Schools.  The headings for the polls are as follows:  HR-Highest Ranking ReceivedPREP over POLL-Prep PollUSA over T'DY-USA Today Poll,  ESPN over .COM-Espn.com,  MAX over P'RP-MaxPreps.com,  HOOP over NIKS-Hoopniks, SI.COM-Five Star Basketball - Sports Ilustrated/CNN and H'PS over USA-HoopsUSA (Combined Traditioal and National Teams). I would appreciate any comments and suggestions as to how we can improve in any area.  My contact information is Eddie Oliver at HoopsUSA@sc.rr.com

      HOOPSUSA VERSION    TERRIFIC TOP TEAMS
HOOPSUSA - TOP TRADITIONAL AND NATIONAL TEAMS
Note:  The main purpose of these ratings is to recognize as many school as possible.  The purpose of these ratings is to recognize as many teams as possible and to separate Traditional Schools from other schools who are not members of their State Associations.  Information and won-loss records for teams in the "National" Rating are not always readily avaibale so I would appreciate any help in getting that poll as correct as possible.  Recognizing and listing teams is more important to me than how high a team is rated.  However, if anyone feels that a team has not been rated high enough or has been left out, please let me know.  I encourage any help in getting up-to-date information on these teams and the addition of other schools that should be included.  I am assuming that none of the listed schools in the "National" category have fifth year players.  If there are any fifth year schools listed I would appreciate notification so that they can be moved to the Prep School Division.

JEWISH SCHOOL TOP TWENTY TEAMS

FINAL NATIONAL TOP 25 for 2011-2012
Updated: 2012-03-28 06:21:36
The YULA Panthers finish the 2011-2012 season as the #1 team in the Jewish Hoops America National Top 25.

Dave Winik's squad, led by seniors Jack Gindi, Yisroel Solomon, Matt Reich and Gavriel Stark, defeated SAR, 45-35, Monday in the final of the Sarachek Tournament, avenging an overtime loss to the Sting last month and a loss in last year's Sarachek final.

Frisch had spent one week in the top spot after its victory over previous #1 SAR in the Yeshiva League championship game. Both YULA (27-7) and SAR (29-5) overtook Frisch at the top of the poll after the Cougars (24-7) fell to Shalhevet in the Sarachek quarterfinals and to North Shore in the 5th Place game.

YULA's season included a 10-1 record against other Jewish high schools and titles at all four tournaments they played in: the Cooper Invitational in Memphis, where they beat MTA in the semifinals and Ida Crown in the final; the Milken Classic, the Hillcrest Christian Holiday Tournament and Sarachek.

The Panthers held the top spot in the rankings for most of the season until their loss to SAR in Los Angeles last month. MTA's 3rd place finish at Sarachek gave the Lions the #4 ranking in the poll. Shalhevet, which lost to YULA in overtime in the semifinals, jumped three spots to #7.

Jewish Hoops America tracks 80 boys high school teams around the United States and Canada and the rankings are determined by a panel of voters across North America.
